How I Work
My work is grounded in systems thinking, which means I pay attention not only to what is happening inside a person, but also to what is happening between people and in their environment. Our relationships, families, histories, roles, and life circumstances shape how we cope, connect, protect ourselves, and get stuck. For this reason, we will often check in about work stress, sleep, nutrition, family relationships, and overall health, even if those things aren’t the primary focus of the work… they still matter because they influence us greatly.
In therapy, we are looking for the patterns beneath the problem.
You can expect a thoughtful, direct, compassionate approach. I am warm and engaged, but I will also help you name what is true, clarify what matters, and notice where old strategies may no longer be serving you. My approach contains some Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, psycho-education when needed, attention to somatic strategies for nervous system regulation, Compassionate Bereavement Care, and for couples: Emotionally-Focused Therapy and Gottman-based strategies.
Therapy with me is about understanding, ownership, healing, and change.
